Teenager attacked with machete during western Sydney home invasion

SYDNEY, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Sydney police are searching for a group of three men who attacked a teenager with a machete during a home invasion in the city's west.

Emergency services in Australia's state of New South Wales (NSW) were called to reports of the home invasion in Werrington County, about 45 kilometers west of central Sydney, at about 1:30 a.m. local time on Wednesday, local media 9News network reported.

Officers arrived at the scene and found a male teenager with a slash wound to his left hand. NSW Police said that three men, one of whom was armed with a machete, had forced their way into the home before threatening and attacking the teenager.

He was treated at the scene by ambulance paramedics before being taken to a nearby hospital.

Police established a crime scene at the property and have commenced an investigation into the incident.
