Shopping center in lockdown after reports of stabbing in Australia's Melbourne

SYDNEY, May 25 (Xinhua) -- A shopping center in Australia's Melbourne was in lockdown while police investigated reports of a stabbing on Sunday.

A police spokesperson of the Australian State of Victoria said there were reports of numerous people fighting at the Northland Shopping Center in Melbourne.

"The shopping center has been locked down while the incident is ongoing," the spokesperson said.

Witnesses reported seeing several people wielding knives at the shopping center, with customers hiding inside stores as police swarmed the scene.

A spokesperson for Ambulance Victoria said it was believed that at least one person was being treated for injuries.
