SYDNEY, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- The number of homes destroyed in bushfires in the Australian state of New South Wales (NSW) had increased to 20, including 16 in the Central Coast and four in the Mid North Coast.

New South Wales Rural Fire Services (NSW RFS), the lead combat agency for bushfires in NSW, confirmed on Sunday evening that building impact assessment teams completed their assessment of the Nimbin Rd, Koolewong fireground in the Central Coast and found 16 houses were destroyed and nine were damaged.

Additionally, seven outbuildings were destroyed, and eight remained untouched, the authority said in a Facebook post.

It said on Saturday that four homes in the Crawford River area in the Mid North Coast had been lost.

Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported on Sunday that natural disasters had been declared in six areas across NSW, meaning people whose homes had been damaged may be eligible for immediate financial help.
