2 critically injured in light plane crash in Australia's Queensland

SYDNEY, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- Two people have sustained life-threatening injuries after a light plane crashed in the Australian state of Queensland Tuesday morning.

Emergency services were called to reports that a plane had crash-landed and skidded off the end of a runway at the Gold Coast Sports Flying Club, about 55 km southeast of Brisbane, shortly before 6 a.m. local time.

The plane came to a stop in the grassland at the end of the runway and sparked a large fire. The pilot and the passenger were pulled out of the plane with life-threatening injuries.
